Fish vendor nabbed for shooting student in Davao de Oro

DIGOS CITY, Davao del Sur, Philippines – A 50-year-old fish vendor has been jailed for shooting an 18-year-old student in Monkayo town, Davao de Oro province shortly before midnight on Tuesday.

Lt. Col. Jerry Cabag, Monkayo police chief identified the suspect as Julieto Cañete Quijada, who attacked Justin Buyose Sister while at a waiting shed with two female students in Barangay Baylo.

Cabag said the attack happened without provocation. But Quijada, when arrested, confessed to authorities he held a grudge against Sister.

Sister sustained a lone gunshot wound in the back and was rushed to Davao de Oro Provincial Hospital in nearby Montevista town for treatment.
