Pagasa: Aparri, Cagayan logs highest heat index anew at 46°C
MANILA, Philippines — For two consecutive days, Aparri, Cagayan had logged the highest heat index in the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported on Wednesday.
According to Pagasa, the area recorded a heat index of 46 degrees Celsius (°C) at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, two notches higher than 44°C recorded on Monday.

On Wednesday, Pagasa also projected that the temperature in Aparri could reach 42°C, the highest that day.
The area’s heat index falls under the “danger” category, which ranges from 42°C to 51°C.
Pagasa said a heat index under the “danger” category could likely cause heat cramps and heat exhaustion, while heat stroke is probable with continued exposure to the sun.
Heat index measures the discomfort an average person experiences due to the combined effects of temperature and air humidity.
