Magnitude 4.4 earthquake hits Davao Oriental
MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.4 earthquake struck Davao Oriental on Tuesday, said the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
The earthquake’s epicenter was located 113 kilometers southeast of Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental, and was detected by Phivolcs at 7:20 a.m.
Phivolcs said that Instrumental Intensity I was felt in Don Marcelino in Davao Occidental, Malungon in Sarangani and General Santos in South Cotabato.
According to the Phivolcs Intensity Scale, Intensity I is only “slightly perceptible” and is only felt under favorable circumstances.
The earthquake was tectonic in nature and had a depth of focus of 97 kilometers.
State meteorologists said that no damage and no aftershocks are expected.
