9 paramilitary group members held in loose firearms drive in Palawan
CITY OF CALAPAN—Police arrested on Wednesday nine persons in Palawan province for an undocumented firearm and ammunition.
The Mimaropa police said Friday, July 15, that they arrested Michel Blanco, Joel Magbanua, 42, Jerry Tulambing, 53, Wilfredo Tatic, 58, Juan Selose, 65, Rodrigo Tacani, 73, Noel Bergante, 54, Robert Reyes, 50, and Rogerio Sedan, 49, for violating the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
The men belonging to the paramilitary H-World United Nations Military Philippines Government were arrested at their headquarters in Barangay 4, Roxas town, the police said.
Joint Palawan and Roxas police with the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company and Naval Intelligence and Security Group-West conducted the arrest under a warrant issued by a Roxas court.
Recovered from the suspects were a .45-caliber Remington pistol with a loaded magazine and ammunition.
The suspects, now under police custody, face criminal complaints at the provincial prosecutor’s office.
“We will sustain our intensified efforts against loose firearms to maintain peace and order in the region,” said regional police chief Brigadier General Sidney Sultan Hernia. INQ
