San Juan City declares June 30 a non-working holiday for Bongbong Marcos inaugural
MANILA, Philippines — The local government of San Juan City on Tuesday declared June 30 a special non-working holiday.
Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is scheduled to take his oath as the country’s 17th President on that day at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Manila.
San Juan City Mayor Francisco Zamora signed an executive order for the special non-working day on Thursday and explained it was in line with the Philippine National Police (PNP) request for cities adjacent to Manila to declare June 30 a non-working holiday.
“There is a need to ensure the safety of all citizens, both residents and those working in the city of San Juan, who may be affected by road closures which will undeniably affect the flow of traffic of both motorists and the riding public,” said Zamora.
Zamora also directed the local police and the city’s Traffic and Parking Management Office and Public Order Safety Office (POS) to assist in implementing the executive order “and strictly adopt and implement security measures.”
