VNL: Italy bounces back with win over Slovenia

MANILA, Philippines — Italy regained its winning ways after sweeping Slovenia, 25-19, 25-16, 25-21, in the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) on Saturday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Licking the wounds of their five-set loss to Japan on Friday, Alessandro Michieletto and Daniele Lavia led the bounce-back victory of the Italians to improve to 5-2.

Michieletto uncorked 16 points, including two blocks, and had eight receptions and six digs, while Lavia chipped in 14 points and five receptions.

“We wanted to win today because we deserved three points. We are happy for this,” said Michieletto shortly after the game.
