PBA: Marcio Lassiter honored to be in elite company as he hits 1,000 triples

MANILA, Philippines–Easily one of the game’s finest shooters, Marcio Lassiter entered hallowed ground on Friday night after hitting four triples in San Miguel’s 100-92 victory over NLEX.

Lassiter scattered four triples in his 18-point job at Ynares Center in Antipolo City to hike his overall record to 1,001 three-pointers made, becoming the ninth PBA  player to breach the mark.

“It’s in the history books (now). So I’m just grateful and thankful,” he said on his way out of the hilltop arena.

The feat sends Lassiter into an elite bunch that is composed of Jimmy Alapag, Alan Caidic, Ronnie Magsanoc, Al Solis, James Yap, Dondon Hontiveros, Arwind Santos, and LA Tenorio.

“Truly honored and blessed, man. You’re talking about Hall of Fame players. Legends. The bests to do it. It’s something that you cannot really take away,” Lassiter said of the company.

And with just 11 seasons under his belt, Lassiter remains in the running at shattering the record of 1,250 shots which was set by Alapag.

“I want to reach the top. That has been my goal ever since,” said Lassiter, an 8-time PBA champion with the powerhouse club and a pioneering member of the Smart Gilas squad.

“I believe in myself. It is not going to be easy, it is going to be harder,” he went on.
