Aces’ Wilson, Storm’s Stewart top early ASG vote

A’ja Wilson, the 2020 league MVP, and two-time Finals MVP Breanna Stewart lead the early returns of fan voting for the 2022 WNBA All-Star Game.

Wilson leads all players with 21,688 votes after helping the Las Vegas Aces get off to a league-best 10-2 start.

At 20,866, Stewart is the only other player with over 20,000 fan votes. She has been a steadying force for a 6-5 Seattle Storm team that’s still looking to find its stride.

A’ja Wilson leads all WNBA players in early All-Star voting. The top two vote-getters will serve as All-Star Game captains.

The Aces and Storm each have three players in the top 10 of fan voting as Wilson is joined by Las Vegas teammates Kelsey Plum (fourth place, 17,158 votes) and Jackie Young (seventh, 12,222). Seattle has Stewart, Sue Bird (ninth, 9,299) and Jewell Loyd (10th, 9,268).

Fan voting accounts for 50% of the total vote, with current players and media accounting for 25% each. Voters can select up to four guards and six frontcourt players for their ballots.

The 10 All-Star starters will be announced June 22, after which point WNBA coaches will select 12 reserves, who will be announced June 28.

The two players who receive the most fan votes will serve as team captains.

The WNBA All-Star Game will take place at Chicago’s Wintrust Arena on July 10 and will air on ABC.
