Vendor shot dead in Quezon
LUCENA CITY – A “goto” (rice soup) vendor was shot and killed by an unidentified gunman along the highway in Lopez town in Quezon province early Sunday.
Quezon police in a report said Eduardo Capinig Jr., was aboard his motorcycle and negotiating a section of the highway in Barangay (village) Tan-ag when he was repeatedly shot by a motorcycle-riding gunman at about 4 a.m.
Police Staff Master Sergeant Roman Edora, case investigator, said that after the initial shooting, the gunman disembarked from his motorcycle and pumped more bullets into the victim using a caliber 9mm pistol.
“The gunman finished him off and made sure that he was dead,” Edora said in a phone interview.
Citing witnesses, Edora said the gunman was accompanied by at least three more motorcycle riders.
The victim also lost P27,000 in his belt bag, according to Edora.
But investigators were not yet sure of the robbery angle.
“Because why the need to repeatedly shoot him to death?” Edora said.
Police are conducting further investigations to unmask and arrest the killer.
