NPA official, wife slain in Samar clash
ORMOC CITY—A suspected top official of the New People’s Army (NPA) and his wife were killed at 2:24 a.m. Wednesday, during an encounter with government troops and the police in Barangay Alejandria, Jiabong town, Samar.
The fatalities were identified as Amado Adelantar, 69, and his wife Maria Norie Adelantar.
Police records showed that Amado has arrest warrants for frustrated murder, attempted murder, frustrated homicide, robbery, and homicide.
The police said the composite team was on foot patrol when they sighted six armed persons in Alexandria.
A gunfire exchange ensued for 10 minutes, which led to the couple’s death.
Seized at the crime scene were a KG 9 submachine gun, a .9 mm caliber pistol, an MK2 hand grenade, and an improvised hand grenade, among others.
