Over 20,000 teachers for elementary, secondary education pass licensure exam
MANILA, Philippines — Over 20,000 teachers have passed their licensure exam, as the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced that 8,737 elementary teachers and 12,074 secondary teachers made the cut after the January 30 exam.
According to PRC and the Board for Professional Teachers (BPT), the passing rate for elementary teachers was at 55.66 percent, as 15,699 took the exam. For secondary teachers, 53.77 percent of the 22,454 applicants passed.
PRC also said that of the 8,737 elementary teacher passers, 2,678 are first time examinees while 6,059 are repeat examiners.
For secondary teachers, 4,652 passers are first timers and 7,422 are repeat examiners.
The topnotcher for the elementary education licensure examination is Jenechielle Lopoy of Saint Michael College of Laguna, with a rating of 93.80 percent, while Lanvin Sean delos Santos of the National Teacher’s College topped the secondary education licensure examination with a 92.80 percent rating.
On the elementary level, the top performing school with more than 50 examiners was Mindanao State University in Marawi City, as 86 of 95 examiners passed for a passing rate of 90.53 percent. It was followed by Bulacan State University – Sarmiento Campus (81.94 percent) and Bulacan State University – Malolos (80.70 percent).
For the secondary level, Cebu Normal University topped schools with at least 50 examiners with 63 of 71 passers, with a 88.73 percent passing rate. It was followed by the following schools:
- University of Mindanao – Tagum (88.46 percent)
- Batangas State University – Batangas City (85.71 percent)
- Southern Luzon State University – Lucban (85.45 percent)
- Polytechnic University of the Philippines – Main, Sta. Mesa (83.33 percent)
- ICC Colleges Found. Inc. (81.82 percent)
PRC said that registration for the issuance of Professional Identification Card (ID) and Certificate of Registration will be open on the following dates:
- April: 18 to 22; 25 to 28
- May 4 to 6
People seeking a Certificate of Registration and Professional Identification Card (ID) need to present the following:
- Notice of Admission (for identification only)
- Downloaded duly accomplished Oath Form or Panunumpa ng Propesyonal
- Two pieces passport size pictures (colored with white background and complete nametag)
- Two sets of documentary stamps
- 1 piece short brown envelope
“The dates and venues for the oathtaking ceremonies of the new successful examinees in the said examination WILL BE ANNOUNCED LATER,” PRC said.
