5.5 quake shakes Leyte

A magnitude 5.5 earthquake jolted Leyte on Monday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

The epicenter was located 8 kilometers southeast of Leyte town.

The tectonic quake had a depth of 9 kms from the surface.

Intensity 5 was felt in Leyte, Kananga, Capoocan, and Pastrana, in Leyte; Tacloban City and Ormoc City.

Intensity 4 was recorded in Palo, Dulag, Babatngon, Alang-alang and Palompon, Leyte; Mandaue City; Cebu City; and Naval, Biliran.

Intensity 3 was reported in Lapu-lapu City and Lawaan in Eastern Samar.
