THE Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), through the Philippine Consulate General (PCG) in Hong Kong, has confirmed a report that another Filipina tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
The Hong Kong Health Department informed the PCG on Thursday about the new unidentified Filipina patient.
“Upon receiving this information, [the PCG] immediately checked with the said patient to ascertain her condition and provide needed assistance,” said DFA Assistant Secretary Eduardo Meñez.
“Currently, the patient is in isolation in the hospital and is undergoing close observation,” Meñez said.
“Meanwhile, the first Filipina Covid-19 positive patient is scheduled to be released this week, provided that her test results remain negative for the disease,” he added.
Meñez said the PCG “continues to closely monitor the condition of all Filipino nationals in Hong Kong and render assistance as needed.”
“As of today (Thursday), there remains only one other Filipina in quarantine as a person under investigation (PUI). She is said to be healthy and asymptomatic, and is set to be discharged tomorrow,” he said. BERNADETTE E. TAMAYO
