Vancouver police need help identifying a man who broke into the Harbour Air seaplane terminal in the Vancouver harbour on Friday and stole a seaplane.

Investigators released surveillance photos on Wednesday of a suspect they hope someone in the aviation field might recognize.

Police believe that the suspect broke into the terminal Friday, and then into one of the seaplanes in the harbour.

He started the plane and attempted to take off. However, according to police, he was unsuccessful and crashed the plane into several other docked Harbour Air seaplanes.

The seaplanes sustained extensive damage, including the wing torn off one of the planes.

The suspect is described by police as white and in his 40s. He is believed to be about 5’10” tall with an average build. He has short brown hair with a slightly receding hairline. Police say he is clean-shaven and has a pronounced brow ridge.

The suspect was wearing a red long-sleeved, zip-up sweater, dark pants, and dress shoes.

Investigators believe that the suspect has working knowledge of planes and are urging members of the aviation community and the public to contact police if they recognize the suspect.

Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at 604-717-0610, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
