Olivarez receives recognition for supporting PDA-Paranaque chapter

PARAÑAQUE City Mayor Olivarez (center) receives plaques of appreciation for supporting the initiatives of the Philippine Dental Association – Parañaque Chapter during Monday’s flag raising ceremony hosted by Philippine City Health Office – Dental Division on February 17 in Paranaque City. The award recognizes the remarkable contribution of Mayor Olivarez in promoting oral health awareness and good dental habits among children and adults in the City.
In her message, Dr. Banta said, the National Oral Health Month is observed every February of the year to strengthen public awareness on the importance of maintaining good oral health for people of all ages. According to her, this year’s observance brought together members of professional oral care providers from the Philippines Dental Association – Parañaque Chapter with the participation of Barangay Health Workers and educators to promote oral health care and dental services to school children in the city.
She added that among the highlights for this month-long oral health campaign include supervised tooth brushing and preventive care among pre-school children in about 135 daycare centers all over Paranaque City.
For his part, Olivarez said the City Health Dental Division under Dr. Banta has done a great job in protecting the citizens especially school children from the disease brought by poor oral hygiene. Olivarez disclosed that the city has put up wash facilities and toothbrush corners in all its schools in 16 barangays to encourage children and adults alike maintain good dental care habits.
