SEN. Francis Tolentino, chairman of the Senate Committee on Urban Planning, Housing and Resettlement, was the keynote speaker at the general membership meeting and elections of the Chamber of Real Estate and Builders’ Associations Inc. (Creba) held recently at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati City.
This was announced by Charlie Gorayeb, Creba national chairman, and Noel “Toti” Carino, Creba national president.
Founded in 1973, Creba is the Philippine umbrella organization of the real estate and housing industry. Its members are property developers, builders, contractors, suppliers and manufacturers of construction materials, real estate service practitioners and other stakeholders engaged in more than 68 allied fields.
Towards its vision of “A Home for Every Filipino,” Creba’s aspirations for the homeless sector are embodied in its “Five-Point Agenda for Housing,” a package of policy and legislative reform proposals developed over the years that targets the provision of 500,000 housing units per year to address homelessness within a period of 20 years.
Laying out his vision in a public hearing to tackle housing-related bills last year, Senator Tolentino urged various agencies to look at housing as being fundamental in the quest to provide a decent quality of life for Filipinos in accordance with sustainable development goals and the Philippine development plan, enjoining all sectors to put in their share in pushing for the success of the government’s national housing program.
