France is in the spotlight during the upcoming Vancouver International Wine Festival.

And the emphasis on the country has us thinking about some of our other favourite covetable pieces that come from the European country, beyond Chablis, Champagne, Bordeaux and the like.

With an eye for all things luxe, here are five iconic French lifestyle finds that would be perfect pairings for a day or evening of sipping some fine French whites and reds.

Best bag

Perhaps the most buzzed-about bag in fashion circles of late, the CHANEL 19 bag is both a nod to the French fashion brand’s past (Gabrielle Chanel’s first handbag design was dubbed the 2.55 to mark the date of its release, and the 19 was released in 2019), as well as its future through reimagined details such as oversized diamond-shaped quilting and a multi-tone metal chain strap and handle. To summarize it in a succinct style statement: it’s completely divine.

Skin saviour

French beauty plays up the importance of good skincare. Perhaps that’s why so many fabulous brands hail from the country. One such company is Caudalie, which uses primarily natural ingredients derived from grapes in its comprehensive lineup of skin-benefitting products. One of the latest additions to the lineup is the Vinosculpt Lift & Firm Body Cream (launching Feb. 28), a body cream inspired by treatments at the company’s Vinothérapie Spa in Bordeaux, that uses Iris extract and grape-seed polyphenols to tone and protect skin.

Face time

Arguably one of the most iconic timepiece designs, the Cartier Tank Solo watch boasts a classic appeal — and a contemporary refinement. The design, which was originally introduced in 2004, is available in a variety of metal finishes, sizes and strap designs, a fact that has undoubtedly helped boost its popularity with watch connoisseurs — and Cartier Tank collectors, alike.

Monogram mania

Whether for a luxe outdoor picnic, or for cosying up on the couch for an evening of French films and a few bold reds, this Louis Vuitton Neo Monogram Blanket would be the perfect accoutrement. The design, which features the French maison’s monogram LV print, is crafted from a wool-and-cashmere blend, so it’s sure to be as warm as it will be chic.

Sun kissed

Get a sun-kissed glow that looks like you’ve just come back from a sojourn to the French Riviera with this Guerlain Terracotta Touch Loose Powder On-The-Go. The makeup product, which is available in three shades, 01 Light, 02 Medium and 03 Deep, features mattifying beads and “radian-revealing flakes” to reveal a “velvety complexion.” The Terracotta powder also boasts skin-smoothing ingredients like jojoba oil to further soothe skin.
