FILIPINO singer Marcelito Pomoy — known for his ability to sing in both tenor and soprano —  finished third runner-up at the reality talent show “America’s Got Talent: The Champions” on Tuesday (Manila time).

Acrobatic dance group V. unbeatable from Mumbai, India cliched the title. Tyler Butler-Figueroa and Duo Transcend finished second and first runners-up, respectively, while Sandou Trio Russian Bar placed fourth runner-up.

“He just wanted to say thank you. Thank you so much to everybody. This is a big, big opportunity for him. That’s all. Thank you so much,” said Pomoy’s wife, who joined him on stage after the announcement.

The show’s judge Heidi Klum thanked the Filipino pride for showing his incredible singing talent saying, “I love you so much. You have the most beautiful voice. I should actually say the most beautiful voices inside of you. You are a champion. Thank you so much for sharing your talent with all of us.”

It will be remembered that Pomoy — who won the second season of “Pilipinas Got Talent” in 2011 — sang the theme song of the Disney animated film “Beauty and the Beast” as both Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson.

He earned praises from the audience and judges Klum, Alesha Dixon and Howie Mandel, who gave him a standing ovation for his performance. However, Simon Cowell–also the show’s executive producer– praised him but gave criticisms saying it was “predictable.”

“America’s Got Talent: The Champions” is a spin-off of “America’s Got Talent” but involves a variety of participants taken from across both “America’s Got Talent” and the “Got Talent” franchise — including winners, finalists, live round participants and other notable entries from around the world — who compete against each other to secure a place in the grand final where the winner receives a cash prize and the title of America’s chosen “World Champion.”  IZA IGLESIAS
