A man has been charged in a 2019 cell phone store robbery in Surrey.
According to Surrey RCMP, the original incident took place Oct. 27, 2019 at a Chatr mobile store at Surrey’s City Centre Mall. A suspect allegedly entered the shop, went behind the counter and grabbed cash from a cash box before allegedly threatening an employee with a weapon and then fleeing.
Police had initially put out a call in November 2019 for information about the suspect as well as another person of interest that was captured on security footage.
On Monday, Surrey RCMP announced Jeremy Morgan, 32, had been identified thanks to a number of tips that were received. Morgan was arrested on Feb. 12 while allegedly in possession of a loaded firearm; he has been charged with robbery, use of an imitation firearm to commit an indictable offence and possession of a firearm without a license or registration.
“Surrey RCMP would like to sincerely thank the public for their assistance in this investigation – your tips proved to be an invaluable resource for our officers,” said Insp. Beth McAndie.
“The results from this investigation clearly demonstrate the importance of the partnership between the public and police, and the success we can achieve when we work together.”
