From the runways and red carpets to everyday street style; barrettes, hairpins and embellished bobby pins seemed to gain popularity last season and it’s safe to say that they’re here for the wearing through 2020.
Here are three ways to wear and enjoy these little darlings:
These Stiletto crystal bobby pins by Vancouver jewelry designer Elsa Corsi are the perfect accessory to elevate any hairstyle and make a statement. Their oversized length adds the perfect amount of sparkle to softly tousled waves. I recommend placing these pins on a slight angle and further back behind the ear for a high fashion look. They come in sets of two and are available at Jeweliette Jewellery in Vancouver. (PS: They make an ideal accessory for bridesmaids.)
Add a cluster of these dainty bobby pins to an updo, as I’ve styled in this photo. I like styling them in clusters of 3 or 5 to amp up a sleek low chignon bun and make an impactful impression. Have a little fun by mixing and matching various styles; the trick is to stick to similar colours, lengths and embellishments. These darling little pins are available at The Latest Scoop.
For everyday casual wear, try these silver pearl embellished bobby pins to up your street style. I like the contrast of pearls against dark hair. Try flat ironing the hair ultra straight with a centre part, then pin both side with 3-5 clusters of bobby pins for a symmetrical finish. To pump up the texture try crimping or curling the hair then brush it out to create a cool and fluffy ’70s/’80s vibe. These pins are available at Chickadee Boutique.
