ON January 21, Manila-based Sales team of Delta Air Lines, organized a relief operation in Batangas City where more than 460,000 Filipinos have been displaced due to the hazardous volcanic activity of Taal. The team mobilized relief efforts in three schools located at Barangay Lodlod and Bolbok in Lipa City Batangas which shelter 300 families or more than 750 individuals. Through the Delta team’s outpour of support and immense dedication, they were able to gather and provide mattresses, woven mats, blankets, face masks, baby bottles, and sets of underwear as well as hygiene kits for the evacuees. They also served hot porridge, rice cakes, and bread, and took time listening to the stories of the evacuees.
Giving back to the community has been core to Delta’s culture for more than 90 years. Delta is committed to being a strong partner and giving back to the communities where we live, work and serve, contributing 1 percent of net income to charitable organizations each year.
State volcanologists from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) lowered Taal Volcano’s alert status to Level 3 on January 26, Sunday.
