Magnitude 6.4 quake jolts Davao Occidental

A magnitude 6.4 earthquake jolted Davao Occidental on Thursday night, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Phivolcs spotted the epicenter of the quake at 85 kilometers southeast of Jose Abad Santos town at 9:40 p.m.
It was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 47 kms from the surface.
Intensity 3 was recorded in Davao City; General Santos City; and Alabel, Sarangani and Intensity 2 in Magsaysay, Davo del Sur.
Instrumental intensities were also felt in the following areas:
Intensity 4 – Malungon, Sarangani
Intensity 3 – Alabel, Sarangani
Intensity 2 – General Santos City; Koronadal City and Tupi, South Cotabato
Intensity 1 – Kidapawan City
Phivolcs said it was not expecting any damage but aftershocks were possible.
