One week after a landslide near Agassiz cut off access to and from Sasquatch Valley Resort, Hemlock Valley Road is set to reopen to vehicles.

Single-lane alternating traffic will begin at 8 a.m. on Friday, the Ministry of Transportation announced Thursday in a news release.

The resort will remain closed through Friday, but regular operations at Sasquatch Valley are expected to resume on Saturday. This follows a span of highly irregular operations, as the small ski resort dealt with hundreds of stranded visitors until their rescue Monday.

Drivers should still expect lengthy delays — up to an hour, the ministry said — as crews continue working to complete emergency repairs to a kilometre of roadway that washed out last Friday. The ministry also thanked all residents and travellers for their patience during this process.

Drivers are asked to watch for workers and traffic-control personnel. For the most up-to-date highway travel information check @DriveBC on Twitter or visit DriveBC.ca.
