PHILIPPINE Red Cross (PRC) chairman and Chief Executive Officer Sen. Richard Gordon, together with the delegation from the Tokushukai Medical Group of Japan, visited patients from the PRC Hemodialysis Center in Manila on Tuesday, January 28.

As Gordon talked to and checked on the patients who were currently undergoing treatment, sixty-two-year old Simon Urgel from Sampaloc, Manila expressed profound gratitude to Gordon and the PRC for the free dialysis treatment that he was getting from the center.

Teary-eyed Urgel narrated that he had been suffering for 20 years already from diabetes, which damaged his kidneys. Since he and his wife were retired, they had no means to support his dialysis treatment until one of his friends told him to go to the PRC Hemodialysis Center for assistance.

The PRC Hemodialysis Center was established in November 2018. The Tokushukai Medical Group donated 10 state-of-the-art dialysis machines, which can serve 60 to 90 patients. The PRC and the Tokushukai Medical Group are looking forward to an expanded partnership in the future.
