AN 18-year old college student of Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) committed suicide by jumping from the rooftop of a 14-storey condominium in Manila, authorities reported on Thursday.
The student was identified as Peter John Rostata, a student of Bachelor of Science in Eletronics and Communication Engineering (BS-ECE).
According to P/Staff Sgt. Erikson M. Aguilar of Manila Police District (MPD)-Homicide Section, the incident happened at about 9:10 p.m. on the rooftop of the El Pueblo Condominium in Sta. Mesa, Manila on Wednesday.
Rostata reportedly fell onto a nearby construction site where he was found by members of the Bacood Police Community Precint of MPD-Station 8 who were responding to a 911 call.
Friends Jericho Meija, 19, and Christian Barcellano, 18, told the authorities that Rostata sent them a message via Facebook messenger, telling them to come to the rooftop of the condominium.
Upon their arrival, the two said they saw Rostata standing on the edge of the rooftop.
The students said before he jumped, Rostata told them to tell his mother whom he tried to contact that he wasn’t doing this because of the family and to give away his personal belongings.
The MPD-Homicide Section said the body has yet to be claimed as the victim did not have relatives in Manila. JOHN ERIC MENDOZA
