Crews are continuing their search for a Kamloops teen who never returned home after snowboarding at Sun Peaks Resort over the weekend.
Carson Hadwin has been identified by family as the teen who went missing Sunday afternoon at the ski resort.
According to Alan Hobler with Kamloops Search and Rescue, the 14-year-old had taken a shuttle early in the day up to the ski resort, and was last seen around 10:30 a.m. Sunday on the skill hill.
Kamloops SAR was called around 6 p.m. to assist in the search when Hadwin failed to come home.
“We’ve been out all night,” said Hobler. “We’ve been running continuously.”
Hobler said Kamloops SAR has had about 20 people scouring the mountain by helicopter, drone and ground for any sign of Hadwin since the search began on Sunday.
Vancouver-based journalist Ash Kelly identified Hadwin as her cousin and asked the public to keep an eye out for the teen.
“We love this kid. He’s the BEST kind of kid,” Kelly posted on Twitter Monday morning. “A news junkie, an outdoor kid, a mountain biker, a snowboarder and the best kind of family anyone could ask for. We are all terrified for him.”
Hadwin is wearing a grey and green Burton snowboarding jacket, along with black pants, black helmet and white snowboard boots. Kelly said Hadwin’s bag was found at the resort’s chalet, and that there were no indications the teen left the mountain.
More to come.
