ZAMBOANGA CITY – A fire of still undetermined origin razed hundreds of houses made of light materials in at least four densely populated villages in downtown Jolo, Sulu province, Monday morning.

Sulu Governor Abdusakur Tan said the fire started at 10 a.m. from a house located in Barangay Takut-Takut and rapidly spread to the adjacent villages in the town proper of Jolo.

Tan said the fire gutted the houses in Barangays Chinese pier, Tulay, Zone 1, Zone 2, Zone 3, and Zone 4.

The governor said that hundreds of his constituents were displaced as a result of the fire.
