Vancouver Weather: Heavy rain, then cloudy

VANCOUVER, B.C.: Friday, Jan. 31. Today’s weather will start out with heavy rain, with up to 25 more millimetres expected before the rain tapers off for a mainly cloudy afternoon, with a high of 11 C, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada. A rainfall warning is in effect, as subtropical moisture brings heavy rain to the South Coast Friday and Saturday. Then, the cold air will return Friday night, and with it another round of heavy rain that will last through to midday Saturday. The agency warns that downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. On Saturday, watch for the temperature to drop to a high of 4 C in the afternoon. Overnight Saturday, expect a low of 3 C and cloudy skies and then on Sunday, also Groundhog Day, there could be some snow in some parts of Metro Vancouver, and rain in other areas, with a high of 5 C. There is a chance for more snow overnight Sunday as the temperature drops to zero. Monday looks sunny but a chilly 4 C, and then overnight Monday there is a chance of snow or rain and 2 C. Tuesday’s forecast also calls for a chance of rain or snow flurries and 5 C.

Tonight: Cloudy. Rain at times heavy beginning this evening. Amount 40 to 50 mm. Windy. Low 7 C.
Tomorrow: Rain ending in the morning then clearing. Windy. Temperature falling to plus 4 C in the afternoon.
