AEG Presents’ Concerts West has announced that Roger Waters: This Is Not A Drill tour will kick-off on July 8 in Pittsburgh and play 31 different cities across Canada and the United States. The tour arrives in Vancouver on Sept. 14 at Rogers Arena.
For the first time ever, the former Pink Floyd bassist, singer and songwriter will perform in the round.
Waters’ US + THEM tour was one of the most intricate and exciting productions of a career marked with high-concept concert presentations. The musician promises that this tour will be no different.
“It’ll be a new show. It will be no-holds-barred,” said Waters in a press release. “My work is to think, ‘Well, how can I make rock & roll more interesting or theatrical or exciting or visual or musical or whatever?’ That’s what I’ve spent the last 50 years doing, expressing myself.”
Waters’ last solo album was 2017s Is This the Life We Really Want? At press time, there was no word on whether the This Is Not a Drill tour would include new recorded material or look back on the classic rocker’s heavyweight back catalogue as US + THEM did.
Waters told Rolling Stone that the new tour “will be even more political than ‘Us + Them’ was — political and humane.” The tour wraps up in October 2020, shortly before what is set to be the most divisive presidential election in US history.
