Taal eruption due to ‘curses of sins,’ ‘sign of second coming,’ says solon
MANILA, Philippines — CIBAC Party-list Rep. Eddie Villanueva said disasters, like the recent eruption of Taal Volcano, are due to “curses of sins,” which he said are part of “signs of the second coming of Jesus.”
“Bago po tayo manalangin, para magkaroon ng significance ang ating dasal at pananalangin, maunawaan po natin na ang lahat ng kalamidad na ito at disaster ay bunga ng sinasabi ng Banal na Kasulatan—the curses of sins,” Villanueva said during the House of Representatives’ session in Batangas City on Wednesday.
(So that our prayer would have significance, let us understand that all calamities are due to what is said in the Holy Bible—the curses of sins.)
“Bagamat ito ay bahagi ng signs of the second coming of Jesus sa Matthew, Chapter 24, ito po ay bunga ng curses of sins. Ito po ang katotohanan,” he added.
(While it is a part of the signs of the second coming of Jesus based on Matthew, Chapter 24, this is the result of the curses of sins. That is the truth.)
Villanueva, also the founder of the Christian group Jesus is Lord, made the remark before his fellow House lawmakers, and local government officials of Batangas.
He said that all other countries around the world were also experiencing some sort of disaster or calamities.
The solution, Villanueva said, was simple — to turn back to God.
“Kung tayong mga tinawag ng Panginoon sa kanyang pangalan ay magpapakumbaba, mananalangin, hahanapin ang kanyang mukha at tatalikod sa kanilang mga kasalanan, ang sabi po ng Diyos, ‘Ako mula sa langit, pakikinggan ko ang inyong mga daing at pananalangin, patatawarin ko ang inyong mga kasalanan at pagagalingin ko ang inyong bayan’,” he added.
In his prayer, Villanueva sought the forgiveness of sins and asked for strength amid Taal Volcano’s eruption and other disasters.
The House of Representatives held a historic out-of-town session in Batangas City on Wednesday in a move to “directly listen” to those affected by the eruption.
