A woman has died and her husband has serious injuries after they were struck by a vehicle in a marked crosswalk in Vancouver on Sunday.
Vancouver police say that shortly before 5:30 p.m. a Vancouver woman and her husband, both in their 70s, were walking across the crosswalk at Pacific and Richards streets when they were struck by a delivery van, as it made a left turn onto Pacific.
The woman died from her injuries in hospital Tuesday afternoon, and her husband remains in hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the van, a 37-year-old man from Surrey, remained at the scene and is co-operating with police.
The VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit is gathering evidence and speaking with witnesses. Anyone with dash-cam footage who was driving in the area at the time of the collision, or anyone who may have witnessed the collision, is asked to call investigators at 604-717-3012.
This is the first pedestrian fatality in Vancouver in 2020.
