Police probing case of rape of Russian tourist in Panglao
TAGBILARAN CITY—Police are investigating a case of alleged rape of a 22-year-old Russian tourist in the resort island of Panglao, Bohol province on Tuesday (Jan. 21).
According to accounts given to police, the tourist had asked the male suspect to accompany her in buying towel because she was not familiar with the place.
The suspect, however, brought her to a place where the victim was choked until she fell unconscious.
SSgt. Vicky Villaber, of the Women’s and Children’s Protection Desk of the Panglao police station, said when the Russian woman regained consciousness, she was already without underwear and shorts.
The victim was said to have asked for help from bystanders who called police. She was brought to the Panglao police station where she reported the assault.
The Russian woman was brought to the Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital for a checkup. Villaber said only a medical test could confirm the rape.
