Vancouver Weather: Rainfall warning in effect

VANCOUVER, B.C.: Wednesday, Jan. 22. Today’s weather should start off with a few showers, which are expected to taper off and then redevelop later in the afternoon, with a high of 9 C, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada. The agency has posted a rainfall warning for Metro Vancouver beginning this afternoon and overnight, with up to 80 millimetres of rain expected in some parts of the region. Howe Sound, the North Shore, and the northeast and central areas are expected to receive the heaviest amounts of rain, which should ease by mid day Thursday. The agency warns that heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. On Thursday, the rain starts out heavy and then is expected to taper off to a chance of showers in the afternoon, with wind, and a high of 10 C. The rain redevelops overnight and then continues on Friday, with a high of 9 C and an overnight low of 8 C. Then it looks like another soggy weekend for Metro Vancouver. Showers are expected on Saturday and Sunday, with highs of 9 C and 7 C, respectively.
