Vancouver Weather: A rainy, slushy mess

VANCOUVER, B.C.: Saturday, Jan. 18.Today’s weather looks wet and windy, with the temperature warming up to 5 C.

While some areas of the region may see a light snowfall in the morning, most will see rain, with up to 20 millimetres expected throughout the day, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada. The agency says it will also be windy, with gusts of up to 60 km/h near the water. Overnight, there could be up to 20 millimetres more rain, with a low of 5 C.

On Sunday, the region could see this week’s snowfall melt as the mercury climbs back up to a seasonal 7 C, now that the Arctic air, which brought snow and freezing temperatures for more than a week, has passed over the region.

There’s also more rain and wind in the forecast Sunday, with up 15 millimetres of rain expected. Then it looks like a typical wet, mild week for Vancouver. On Monday, expect showers and a high of 9 C, Tuesday looks rainy and 8 C, and then Wednesday should be cloudy, with a chance of showers and 8 C.
