Magnitude 3.3 quake shakes Guiuan, Eastern Samar

TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte, Philippines — A magnitude 3.3 earthquake shook the town of Guiuan in Eastern Samar on Sunday, Jan. 12.

The Philippine Institute of Seismology and Volcanology (Philvocs), however, said the tremor did not cause any damage and was not expected to produce aftershocks.

The agency said the quake occurred at around 3:13 p.m. with a depth of 13 kilometers.

The tremor was of tectonic in origin.
