A quarrel between a soldier and his wife led to a grenade explosion inside their apartment unit at Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City on Sunday, injuring the woman and their 11-year-old son, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) reported.

Brigadier General Edgard Arevalo, AFP spokesperson, said the explosion occurred at the apartment unit being occupied by Staff Sergeant Larry de Guzman, an enlisted personnel detailed at the Home Affairs Office at the General Headquarters and Headquarters Service Command, at around 6:20 a.m.

Arevalo said De Guzman and his wife, Erliza, had a heated argument prior to the blast.

It was not immediately clear why the two were fighting, but as De Guzman was about to leave their unit, a hand grenade presumably owned by the soldier suddenly exploded.

“There were indications that the wife could have triggered the explosion,” Arevalo said.http://tempo.com.ph/feed/
