A standoff between North Vancouver Mounties and an armed suspect who had barricaded himself in a home has come to a close after nearly five tense hours.
North Vancouver RMCP announced shortly after 6 p.m. that the incident had been resolved, with one man taken into custody by officers at the scene.
The incident began when police responded to a call about an armed man in a basement suite around 1:30 p.m. Friday.
Mounties were unable to convince the individual to leave the residence, and soon called in a crisis negotiator and the Lower Mainland district emergency response team to help bring the situation to a peaceful end.
Several hours later, they were successful. Nobody was injured in the incident.
Lynn Valley Road, which was closed to traffic between Morgan Road and William Avenue during the standoff, was reopened by early evening.
