Retired ambassadors launch golf tournament and health and wellness fund campaign

THE Department of Foreign Affairs Retired Personnel Association, in cooperation with the Philippine Ambassadors Foundation Incorporation, has recently launched the holding of a golf tournament for the Secretary of Foreign Affairs Cup at the Ayala Greenfields Golf and Country Club in Calamba, Laguna on March 23, Monday, to raise funds for the DFARFI health and wellness program covering the costs of regular medical consultations, laboratory tests, and assistance in defraying hospitalization costs of members.
Former Secretary of Foreign Affairs and Ambassador to the United States Alberto del Rosario has accepted the chairmanship of the steering committee of the golf tournament and fund campaign, hailing the DFARFI health programs a “clear manifestation that the officers and employees of the DFA continue to be a family bound by an abiding concern for each other’s welfare … Contributions to the fund campaign will be a fitting recognition of the retirees long and dedicated services rendered to the Filipino people and country.”
The tournament is open by invitation to golfing enthusiasts from the diplomatic and business communities in Metro Manila. The tournament will be capped by a luncheon and program with entertainment, awarding of trophies to winders, and a raffle with valuable prices at stake.
Other members of the steering committee are former Congressman and Ambassador to Brazil Macario Laurel and former Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Lauro Baja, advisers; Ambassador Isaas Begonia, vice-chairman; Ambassador Antonbio Villamayor and Ambassador Zenaida Collinson, ways and means; Ambassador Vidal Querol and Ambassador Noe Wong, tournament directors; and Ambassador Mindy Cruz, treasurer.
