The man accused of two gangland murders in 2017 and 2018 will be back in Surrey Provincial Court Monday morning for a pre-trial appearance.
Tyrel Hieu Nguyen Quesnelle was arrested in Edmonton last month and charged with the murder of Randeep Kang, 27, in October 2017 and the slaying of Jagvir Malhi, just 19, a few months later.
Kang, a high-profile Vancouver gangster, was gunned down just before 9 p.m. in the 11300-block of Alpen Place in Surrey.
Malhi was fatally shot about 3:30 p.m. near Ross Road and Simpson Road in Abbotsford.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team worked with Abbotsford Police and the Surrey RCMP on the two murder cases.
After several months, investigators linked both deaths and determined they was a common suspect.
Quesnelle, 21, was arrested in Edmonton on Dec. 20 by IHIT, with the assistance of two Alberta agencies.
He faces two counts of first-degree murder and was ordered detained after his first court appearance.
Quesnelle is aligned with the Brothers Keepers gang, which has been warring with their former allies in the Kang group.
I am still looking for more information on Quesnelle. My email is kbolan@postmedia.com if you have anything you can pass along. I am also looking for a photo.
