Highway 1 near Golden closed in both directions after fatal crash

One person is dead after a crash on Highway 1 near Golden,B.C., on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Cpl. Mike Halskov, of B.C. RCMP Traffic Services, the four-vehicle collision occurred at 2:10 p.m. about 20 kilometres west of Golden.
“Upon arrival, police confirmed that two passenger vehicles and two commercial vehicles were involved in the crash that has killed one person,” Halskov said.
Highway 1 was closed in both directions and there was no detour available late Tuesday afternoon, according to DriveBC.ca.

Trans Canada East Traffic Services, B.C. Ambulance Service, commercial vehicle and safety enforcement officers, the B.C. Coroners Service and the RCMP collision reconstruction service are investigating this crash.
The cause of the collision is not known, but winter driving conditions are being considered as a contributing factor.
There is a snowfall warning in effect for the East Columbia region with up to 25 centimetres of snow forecast by Wednesday morning.
