‘The Times’ chairman emeritus reappointed as intl PR special envoy

PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte has reappointed Dr. Dante A. Ang, chairman emeritus of The Manila Times, as special envoy for international public relations.

A list of presidential appointees that Malacañang released on Tuesday showed that Ang was appointed on January 2.

Ang’s appointment was coursed through the Department of Foreign Affairs.

Public relations work is not new to Ang, having served as publicist of former president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo from 1993 to 2003.

Arroyo then appointed Ang as chairman of the Commission on Filipinos Overseas on December 2005, staying in the post until the end of the Arroyo’s term on June 30, 2010.

Meanwhile, Duterte appointed Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council Chairman Eduardo del Rosario as ad interim secretary of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development.

Del Rosario’s appointment paper was signed by the President on January 2, a copy of which was released to the media on Tuesday.

Before being given the post, del Rosario served as Department of National Defense undersecretary for veterans and retiree affairs.

Under the administration of President Benigno Aquino 3rd, he was executive director of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.

The President tapped Lt. Gen. Felimon Santos Jr. as chief of staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and Joel Joseph Marciano Jr. as director general of the Philippine Space Agency.
