The public should follow the trades of insiders

As of Dec. 31, 2019, the public stockholders of TKC Metals Corp. owned 272,999,391 common shares, or 29.042 percent of 940 million outstanding common shares that the company classified 667,000,609 shares as non-public. The company credited with nominal common share its 11 directors who make up the board, which includes lawyer Bayani K. Tan as regular director.

Star Equities Inc. is its principal stockholder with 667,000,598 TKC common shares, or 70.95 percent. When computed, the percentage should have been 70.958 percent.

On Jan. 6, 2020, TKC common shares opened trading at P1.01, which was also the stock’s high, fell to its low of P0.92 and closed the session at its high of P1.01. The stock peaked at a 30-day high of P1.17 and fell to its low of P0.92.

A public ownership report (POR) as of Dec. 31, 2019 listed at 8,425,981,156 the number of issued and outstanding common shares of Vistamalls Inc. Of the outstanding, the public stockholders owned 867,904,460 common shares, which was equivalent to 10.30 percent.

The filing also disclosed the direct ownership of Manuel B. Villar Jr., who, according to the POR, directly held 1,000 common shares, along with Manuel Paolo A. Villar, Cynthia J. Javarez and Joel L. Bodegon. Adisorn Thananan-Narapool and Raul N. Esteban were indirect stockholders but were also credited with 1,000 common shares each. Camille A. Villar was also an indirect owner of 100 common shares.

Vistamalls, which uses STR as corporate symbol, posted on Jan. 6, 2020 its POR on the website of the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE). It reported two principal stockholders, namely, Vista Land & Lifescapes Inc. and Fine Properties Inc., which were indirect holders of 7,433,192,641 common shares, or 88.34 percent, and 114,877,955 common shares, or 1.36 percent.

Incidentally, STR stands for Starmalls, which used to be the corporate name of Vistamalls.
On Jan. 6, 2020, STR common shares opened trading at P5.80, hit a high of P5.94, dropped to a low of P5.65, and closed the session at P5.93. The stock peaked at a 30-day high of P6 and a 30-day low of P4.90.

Jose C. Ibazeta is a member of the seven-person board of International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI), which is chaired by Enrique K. Razon Jr. On Dec. 27, 2019, he reduced to 2,555,090, or 0.09 percent, his direct ownership of ICTSI common shares after selling 10,000 common shares. He sold 6,000 shares at P128.60 each; 2,000 shares at P130 each; and 2,000 shares at P128.80 each.

On Dec. 27, 2019, ICT common shares opened trading at P134, hit a high of P135, fell to a low of P131.50, and closed the session at its high of P135. On Jan. 6, 2020, the stock opened trading at P134; hit a high of P135; dropped to a low of P131.50; and closed at P135. It recorded a 30-day high of P136.50 and a month’s low of P117.

Eusebio H. Tanco is chairman of the 11-person board of STI Education Systems Holdings Inc. (STI). On Jan. 3, 2020, he bought 203,000 common shares at P0.6000 each. His acquisition, which was indirect and represents 0.002 percent of outstanding, increased his holdings to 1,426,344,875 common shares, or 14.4 percent. He reported his previous direct and indirect ownership of STI common shares at 1,426,141,875 shares divided into directly owned 1,253,666,793 common shares, or 12.657 percent, and indirectly owned
172,475,082 common shares, or 1.741 percent.

On Jan. 3, 2020, STI common shares opened trading at P0.62, hit a high of P0.63, fell to a low of P0.59, and closed at its high of P0.60. On Jan. 6, 2020, the stock opened trading at P0.59, hit a high of P0.60, fell to a low of P0.59, and closed at its high of P0.60. It peaked at a 30-day high of P0.69 and dropped to a 30-day low of P0.59.
