The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said it eliminated the backlog of administrative cases, with others pending for as long as 20 years, against erring police before 2019 ended.
NCRPO chief Brig. Gen. Debold Sinas on Friday said the agency had zero backlog as it welcomed 2020.
“Lahat po ‘yun napirmahan ko na (I signed all). We [were] able to resolve the cases and to dissolve backlog of administrative cases,” Sinas said in a press briefing in Quezon City.
NCRPO records showed a total of 4,630 pending cases for 20 years from 1919 to 2019.
Of these, 2,178 administrative cases were pending from 1999 to 2018; 1,755 were recorded in 2019 alone; and 697 were motions for reconsideration (MR), Sinas said.
Sinas said the record was achieved by simplifying the disposition of administrative cases and the MR.
Through the simple process, Sinas said, specific personnel were designated to handle administrative cases and MR from drafting to proof of service.
Sinas also said administrative cases should not pass through the Command Group and Legal Office, and only the regional director or the disciplinary authority would decide if legal opinion was necessary.
