The 17 Husky puppies that were surrendered by an owner in the B.C. Interior last month have been given names and are ready for adoption.
On the BC SPCA website, staff said: “The 17 husky puppies who were surrendered to the BC SPCA now have names. Their names were chosen from suggestions submitted by the public, which identified two themes: Northern and Norse Gods. The public voted for their favourite theme in an online poll and Northern was the clear winner.”
The pups were surrendered along with two adult Siberian Huskies last month and this week the B.C. SPCA said the pups were “perking up.”
RCMP and animal control officers had responded to a complaint and found the eight- to 10-week-old husky puppies living outside in the cold and snow on the property.
The SPCA reported the vulnerable pups were shivering, lethargic and riddled with parasites.
The owner surrendered the dogs to animal control, which held them overnight before transferring the dogs to the local B.C. SPCA branch on Christmas Eve.
Information is at the BC SPCA South Okanagan/Similkameen Branch and the BC SPCA Vernon & District Branch.
