As it greeted Filipinos a healthy and joyous New Year, Malacañang gave assurances that the country could look forward to a better life under President Rodrigo Duterte.
“We look at the departing year and we see the change in many aspects of our society transform before our eyes. Yet we feel it in our bones that there will be more productive and progressive changes to come as this Administration led by this strong willed maverick and incorruptible President charts the destiny of this nation beyond our wildest dreams,” Palace spokesman Salvador Panelo said in a message on Tuesday.
“All nations look forward to a better quality of life. We are no exception,” he added.
“As we turn a new page in our history and face greater challenges and exciting prospects for a better Philippines, even as we learn from the lessons of the past, and draw inspirations from the changes that lifted us, we resolve to help one another in building a nation living in comfort, in peace and in progress. That is the dream of PRRD (President Rodrigo R. Duterte) and we will be together in seeing that dream to fruition in all its splendor,” Panelo said.
Meanwhile, Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo called on Filipinos to muse on things that truly matter and to start the year with hope and joy.
“Salubungin sana natin ang bagong taon nang may pag-asa sa ating mga mata, galak sa ating mga puso at ngiti sa ating mga labi — ngiti na nagsasabing sa kabila ng lahat ng ating pinagdaanan at pagdadaanan pa, ay napakaraming bagay na dapat din nating ipagpasalamat (May we welcome the New Year with hope in our eyes, joy in our hearts and a smile on our lips — a smile that says that despite all that we went through and will go through, there are so many things to be thankful for),” she said.
