Cayetano trust, approval ratings up

House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano’s trust and approval ratings went up in the latest Pulse Asia survey.
The nationwide survey from Dec. 3 to 8 and released Dec. 21 with 1,200 respondents showed that his approval rating climbed by 16 percent, from 64 percent in September to 80 percent this fourth quarter.
On the other hand, his trust ratings went up to 76 percent, 14 percent higher than the 62 percent three months ago.
Only six percent disapproved his performance while distrust on the House leader fell from six percent to three percent.
Cayetano’s approval and trust ratings are higher than those of Vice President Leni Robredo who had 58 percent and 53 percent, respectively.
National Unity Party president and Cavite Rep. Elpidio F. Barzaga Jr. attributed the House Speaker’s upswing ratings to the successful hosting of the 30th Southeast Asian Games and timely passage of the proposed P4.1-trillion 2020 national budget.
He said Cayetano, as the head of Philippines Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee, exemplified his “hardcore devotion” to overturn the backlash and criticisms in the hosting of SEA Games.
