2 LPAs spotted east of Mindanao

Two weather disturbances east of Mindanao, one of which could develop into a tropical cyclone in the next few days, are being monitored by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration.

PAGASA weather specialist Loriedin dela Cruz said one of the low-pressure areas was inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility yesterday morning and estimated 860 kilometers east-southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur around 3 p.m.

The trough or extension of the LPA is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and isolated thunderstorms in Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Dinagat Islands, Bukidnon, Camiguin, Misamis Occidental, Misamis Oriental, Lanao del Norte, Bohol, Cebu, Negros Oriental, Siquijor, Leyte, and Southern Leyte today.

It is expected to maintain its strength while crossing the landmass of Visayas or Mindanao.
