Abbotsford police have posted an open letter to a thief after someone stole a mobility scooter from an Abbotsford woman with multiple sclerosis.

“As you may recall, on the night of November 30, 2019, you entered a garage in the 33300-block of Wren Crescent in Abbotsford.  Once inside, you noticed a shiny red mobility scooter, and decided to cowardly steal it from the garage,” the letter, posted Wednesday  by Sgt. Judy Bird, states.

Police say the garage was left open by mistake but that was “not an invitation” to steal the Shoprider Trailblazer scooter.

The red scooter has “Honk if you love Neil Diamond” and Canucks “Fin” stickers on the rear bumper.

Abbotsford police are asking the person who stole this mobility scooter to return it to the woman.

Abbotsford police say the owner is a 65-year-old woman with MS, a disease that has severely limited her mobility. She relies on the scooter for transportation.

“She kindly requests that her scooter be returned,” the letter states.

Anyone with information about the scooter is asked to call 604-859-5225 or text 222973.

The letter concludes with “PS- quit stealing everyone’s stuff.”
