Condoms in ‘Tisoy’ trelief packs improper – prelate

A former head of the social action arm of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines said the reported inclusion of condoms in the relief package given to typhoon “Tisoy” victims in Camarines Sur are improper and out of place.

“It’s not only improper it’s definitely out of place,” Caceres Archbishop Rolando Tirona said in an interview yesterday in Tagaytay City, an hour before he formally turned over the chairmanship of the CBCP National Secretariat for Social Action Justice and Peace to Kidapawan Bishop Jose Colin Bagaforo.

“Whoever did that, its bad taste,” he added.

Tirona said the inclusion of condoms in the relief package was not necessary.

“It’s like sending high heeled shoes to calamity victims,” he said.
