Lorenzana, Clement to pay tribute to SEA Games’ soldier athletes

DEFENSE Secretary Delfin Lorenzana and Armed Forces Chief Noel Clement will pay tribute to soldiers who participated in the just concluded 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.

Brig. Gen. Edgard Arevalo, spokesman for the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), said Lorenzana and Clement would lead a thanksgiving dinner at Camp Aguinaldo on December 19 for the 127 soldier athletes.
Of the 127, 27 won the gold; 13, silver; and eight, bronze medals.
The soldiers, according to Arevalo, competed in arnis, baseball, boxing, cycling, Muay Thai, obstacle course, rowing, sailing, sepak takraw and shooting. He did not say in which activities the soldiers won.
Arevalo made the announcement as the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) was set to celebrate its 84th Anniversary on December 17.
President Rodrigo Duterte will lead the celebration, which former military officials would also attend. DEMPSEY REYES
